David Usher

"There are so many loud, critical, extreme voices out there these days, cluttering up the air waves with fear and hate, that it has become increasingly hard for intelligent, moderate people to find a way to be heard. We need to band together, be more bold, getting our voices out there. Amnesty International speaks for people who can't. We, now more than ever, need to support Amnesty International."

David Usher was born in Oxford, England, the child of a Thai Buddhist painter and a Canadian Jewish economist. Growing up in Ontario, Canada, he later studied political science at Vancouver's Simon Fraser University, an interest still evident both in his lyrics and activism. David is now living and performing out of the East Village in New York.

With alt-rock band Moist and as a solo artist, David had sold over 1.3 million records. He has won 5 Junos (Canadian Grammy) including 2002 Pop Album of the year. With multiple #1 hits in Canada and Top Ten radio singles in Europe and Asia, David's music has embraced a broad spectrum of genres, from rock to folk-tronic and pop acoustic. His fifth solo album, Strange Birds, will be released in March 2007
