“Music speaks the language of freedom, revolution and solidarity. Without that freedom – without music that is angry, joyful and necessary – we are nothing.” - Yoko Ono

To celebrate Human Rights Day and its first anniversary, Make Some Noise is giving away 10 pairs of tickets to see "The US vs John Lennon", a documentary about Lennon's political activism to be released in the UK on Dec 8th.
The film retraces the voyage of a man who refused to remain silent in the face of injustice; a man, whose revolutionary use of modern communication techniques and celebrity status not only created unprecedented support for the peace and civil rights movements, but also landed him in trouble with the US administration; a man who understood that music was a unique way to tap into people's souls and inspire them to stand up for human rights.
Make Some Noise, which started with Yoko Ono's extraordinary gift of Lennon's solo catalogue to Amnesty International, is taking this opportunity to take its hat off to the original noise maker: Thank you John!
And may a new generation rise up and keep making some noise for human rights!!

Human Rights Day: retrospective

Human Rights Day is observed by the international community every year on 10 December. It commemorates the day in 1948 the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

On December 10th 2006, Amnesty International will be celebrating its 45th anniversary, 45 years of research and action focused on preventing and ending grave abuses of human rights.

Make Some Noise will also be celebrating its first anniversary. The list of high-profile artists who support the project is fast growing, and 2007 promises to bring in more surprises.

More importantly, we are celebrating one year in action, when *you* have made a difference: signing petitions (Protect the People of Darfur: 37,000 signatures), sending in pictures ("Million Faces/Control Arms": 1,000,000 pictures) or videos ("Close Guantanamo" ongoing)... your contribution can change the world

We will not shut up, keep making some noise for human rights!

Where's the music? In the Make Some Noise store (of course!)
