Australia:  AI Australia launched its 'Message in a Bottle' campaign at the musical spectacular 'Splendour in the Grass'.  Festi-goers signed campaign letters opposing the Australian Government's proposed changes to refugee legislation and posted them in our festival bottle.  And t o coincide with Snow Patrol's performance at the festival, the Make Some Noise stand showcased the Darfur video, behind-the-scenes videos and band's cover of 'Isolation.'

Ireland:
On July 8-9th Make Some Noise teamed up with MTV UK at the Oxegen Festival in Dublin to host a series of stellar performances by some of the industry's hottest young stars. Corrinne Bailey Rae, Maximo Park, The Charlatans, Feeder, Boy Kill Boy, Orson, The Feeling, and Guillemots each performed and recorded live a Lennon track for an exclusive audience gathered in the MTV Live tent. The performances are to be broadcast on MTV.

Germany & Austria: Five young Amnesty volunteers will hop on the (magical?) Make Some Noise Tour Bus to spread the word at seven big music festivals.  The bus will pump out MSNoise tracks, host an Imagine Song Contest, allow people to take action on Darfur or shoot their own video calling on George Bush to close Guanatánamo Bay.  Lennon would be proud...

Japan: AI-Japan is leading the way with mobile downloads. They have partnered with the country's biggest music TV channel and expect to launch a retail platform for Make Some Noise tracks and mobile ringtones within a few weeks.

Mongolia: Throat singing and Make Some Noise?  That's right, on May 27th, AI Mongolia united local musicians in Freedom Square, Ulaanbaatar to play Lennon originals like they've never been played before.  Bulsara, Nisvanis, Nomads, Nominjin and Chingesiin Mongol rocked out with 'Power to the People', 'Freedom Fighters' and a rousing finish with all musicians on stage for 'Imagine'.

The Netherlands: On August 18-20, the Lowlands festival and radio station 3FM will help launch the Dutch campaign to 'Make Some Noise against Discrimination' with actions against discriminiation in Russia and downloadable ring tones.

Northern Ireland: On July 26 and 27, Irish bands Oppenheimer, V/Formation, The Crimea and Spree followed in the rich tradition of bands like U2 and Make Some Noise artists Snow Patrol with two Amnesty International benefit concerts in Belfast. Amnesty Northern Ireland joined forces with Radio Ulster's Across The Line and the Urban Arts Academy to bring its message of anti-oppression and justice for all to a new generation of music lovers.

New Zealand: Not to be outdone by the Aussies, AI New Zealand's Freedom Week  will focus on the war-torn Darfur region of Sudan in a noisy week of fundraising from August 1-7.  For the first time, the 50+ student groups will be joined by local bands and performance artists who will be busking for Darfur.

United Kingdom: Make Some Noise is teaming up with the Bestival  in September on the Isle of Wight. Bands performing at the premium music festival will be invited to perform and record live a Lennon track in support of Make Some Noise. Bestival-goers will get the chance to take home free downloads of an exclusive Make Some Noise track, feature in a 'noisy' viral film, and even take part in a special Amnesty karaoke session in Amnesty's Noise tent.

Million Faces Petition delivered to UN

June 23. New York. Julius Arile, the millionth person to support the Control Arms campaign delivers the petition to Kofi Annan, Secretary General of the UN. A historic moment, but the UN Small Arms Review Conference failed to reach an agreement because of the actions of a few - notably the United States, Cuba, India, Iran, Israel and Pakistan.  So we will keep lobbying and keep adding faces to the petition until the UN General Assembly in November, where a direct vote (as opposed to requiring consensus) on a global Arms Trade Treaty will take place.
