“Power to the People is the ultimate anthem…we hope the single will motivate people to truly stand up and be counted.” -- will.i.am, The Black Eyed Peas.

John Legend, Mary J. Blige and Black Eyed Peas Perform at Record of the Year

To celebrate the launch of Make Some Noise, the Black Eyed Peas, Mary J. Blige and John Legend joined forces for ITV’s Record of the Year with a stellar live performance of Lennon’s “Power to the People.”  On Human Rights Day, December 10, their loose rhymes, anthemic funk and live spirit brought home the idea of music with a message.

As part of the show's tribute to John Lennon, a 10-minute feature on Make Some Noise included a retrospective on Lennon’s life, an interview with Yoko Ono and cameos by artists like Robert Smith (The Cure), Avril Lavigne and Ozzy Osbourne.  It was a great way to set the tone for the campaign. Because we’re not about suffering and guilt. We’re here to make a positive impact on our world and collectively raise our voices to make as much noise as we can for human rights.

But we need you to start spreading the word. You can send out superfly e-cards of all the bands to your friends or simply cut-and-paste the text below into an email:

“High-profile international artists.  Classic Lennon tracks.  United for human rights. This is Make Some Noise - a mix of music, celebration and action in support of Amnesty International.  Every person you tell, every track you download and every action you take helps protect individuals wherever freedom, justice and equality are denied. Check out http://www.amnesty.org/noise ”

We'll be releasing great new tracks throughout the year with some big surprises to come.  So for all the exclusive Lennon tracks, stay tuned to the Make Some Noise Music Store. All proceeds go to support the work of Amnesty International to protect human rights worldwide.
